Project Information

Name or reference of the development

Standard S1: Drainage Destination Hierarchy

Demonstrate compliance with the drainage hierarchy

Hierarchy: Infiltration → Watercourse → Surface Water Sewer → Combined Sewer
H1: Infiltration to Ground
H2: Discharge to Watercourse
H3: Discharge to Surface Water Sewer
H4: Discharge to Combined Sewer
Overall S1 Assessment:
-

Standard S2: Interception & Storage

Demonstrate required interception volume is provided

Required Interception Volume (CIRIA C753)

0 m³
Typically 5-10mm rainfall over impermeable area
CIRIA default: 6mm
Sum of all interception storage from SuDS components (green roofs, permeable paving, detention, etc.)

Component Summary (Link to S2 Interception Checker)

Component Type Quantity Unit Storage Provided (m³)
Deemed Compliance:

Link to component calculators to demonstrate individual SuDS elements meet CIRIA standards. Reference calculations from Water Quality Calculator, Attenuation Calculator, etc.

S2 Assessment

Standard S3: Peak Flow Control

Demonstrate post-development discharge ≤ greenfield rates

S3 Requirement: Post-development peak discharge must not exceed greenfield runoff rate for design rainfall events (1yr, 30yr, 100yr), accounting for climate change.

Greenfield Runoff Rates (from Greenfield Calculator)

Post-Development Discharge (from Attenuation Calculator)

E.g. 40% uplift on rainfall for 100yr event
E.g. 10% increase in impermeable area

Attenuation Storage Provided

Should be ≤ 24 hours for flood performance

S3 Assessment

Standard S4: Water Quality

Demonstrate adequate treatment of runoff pollutants

S4 Requirement: Ensure suitable treatment of runoff through treatment train appropriate to receiving water sensitivity.
Determines required level of treatment
CIRIA SIA (Source-Impact-Appraisal) Results

Reference output from Water Quality Calculator showing pollutant removal rates and treatment performance

Treatment Train Components

Required if parking area > 200 spaces or high-risk industrial use

S4 Assessment

Standards S5-S7: Amenity, Biodiversity & Maintenance

Demonstrate integration, ecological benefit and long-term stewardship

S5: Amenity Value

S6: Biodiversity Enhancement

S7: Maintenance & Management
